South England 2015

We woke up pretty early today after a rather good night's sleep at the Falstaff in Canterbury, and our first English breakfast was waiting for us. Nothing can beat eggs and bacon, sausages, mushrooms and baked beans. ??

We left Canterbury around 10:30 and headed to Rye. This was our midday break. Rye, with it's old narrow lanes and cobbled streets just beckons to be explored. So we strolled through this quaint old part of Rye and enjoyed a cup of coffee on one of the many terraces.

We visited the old Church with its cemetery. Worn down tombstones, some covered in ivy, other nearly being eaten up by ancient oak trees. Overhead the ravens were cawing and and old man fed the birds. Sadly, we had to leave Rye and continue our journey.

The road to Tunbridge Wells was actually very good with nearly no traffic at all. Yet somehow, I started feeling rather weird. A kind of nervousness and fear came over me and I was happy when we finally reached Tunbridge Wells.

Tunbridge Wells

Since it was well after 12:00 we stopped to have a Pizza. It was OK, but I really had better. Tunbridge Wells was quite a disappointment for me and so we didn't spent long and set out for our B&B for tonight, Manor Court Farm.

Like the name says, the farm just looks great. And old farm house, with stables and lots of greenery greeted us. There were even some animals for the children to pet.

The land lady showed us in and our room overlooked nearly all the property. After having settled in, I had to lie down and rest. That strange feeling I had earlier, left me kind of drained.

I woke up refreshed and much better. And since I had not yet had the chance to get a pint of bitter, we headed to the pub where I finally could enjoy a beer.

Relaxed, we headed back to the B&B and turned in for the night. Tomorrow, Brighton awaits.
