The day announced itself beautiful. The first rays of sunlight streamed into our room and woke us gently. Time again for breakfast before hitting the road. Unfortunately the good weather didn't last, so we left Lyndhurst in typical English drizzle. Low clouds and rolling mists made it impossible to enjoy the countryside.

Nevertheless we headed out to see some of Devon's wondrous sights. Our first stop was Bradbury Rings, which turned out to be the remnants of a stone age settlement. Apart from a few earthen rings around a wooden copse nothing remained. A small plaque in the middle of the wood was the only thing telling visitors about the

settlement. A bit of a disappointment there.

So we drove on through the mists and rain to Cerne Abbas. Home of the Cerne Abbas Giant. A huge chalk figure cut into one of the hillsides. Quite a view, but again the weather prevented us from enjoying this sight fully.

I was somewhat downhearted. I was so looking forward to see all those things. Of course the low clouds and the mists shrouded everything in a mysterious atmosphere, but still, I would have liked to experience these sights in good weather.

We tried to visit the White Horse of Osmington before heading to Exeter. This time we couldn't even get close due to flooding of the only road leading there. Again my spirits sank and we finally drove into Exeter somewhat annoyed.

We were already pretty late for our check in at this nights B&B, so we only had an hour to see the City. Exeter Cathedral is well worth a visit if you are into gothtic architecture. I am really not interested in any religious Hocus-Pocus, but that building really was an eye opener. The £ 24 entrance price really shows that the church takes from the living... What a joke. But that was the only downside.

Time to finally get some rest at the Rohaven B&B in Exmouth. It took us about 40 minutes to get there, but that was mainly because we got lost on the road.

The staff welcomed us kindly and after we settled in we went to have dinner at the sea front.

After a very long and tyring day, we could finally relax and enjoy good nights sleep... Unfortunately not for me.
