Day 10: Aloha Maui! After a five hour plane ride from LA, my best friends and I finally arrived at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The weather was beautiful, the waters crystal clear, and the sands white and soft. In Hawaii they speak the Hawaiian language and English. That night, after unpacking, my friends and I enjoyed a nice Hawaiian dinner of Huli Huli (chicken served in Hawaiian barbecue sauce) and Mahimahi (deep ocean fish). Then we went hula dancing to enjoy the Hawaiian culture.
Day 11: Today, we went swimming, surfing, and boogie boarding. The ocean was really warm and the sky was sunny and cloudless. We tried
out paddle boarding among some reefs and raced in kayaks. We also rented out snorkels and flippers for tomorrow.
Day 12: Today was one of my favorite days of the entire trip. Snorkeling is practically one of my favorite things and I was glad I finally got to do it in Hawaii. My friends and I rode in a boat to Coral Gardens reef and saw fishes of all different shapes, sizes, and colors. In all, we snorkeled in four different sites each with a new species of fish or plant. In between sites, our boat guide taught us about the fishes we saw and the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle. After snorkeling all day, we relaxed and enjoyed one last dinner in Maui.
Day 13: We packed up and said goodbye to this beautiful island. My friends and I all went our separate ways because I was going to Tikal, Guatemala and they were heading home.
