Day 14: The flight from Maui to Tikal, Guatemala took twenty nine hours, three stops, and I had to go through customs. So, it took all day to fly and arrive. You can probably bet that I was super tired when I arrived at my hotel, Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel.
Day 15: I spent the entire day exploring Tikal National Park and Temple IV. Temple IV was built in 741 AD and is one of the most tallest and voluminous buildings in the Mayan World. It was built to reign the 27th king of the Tikal Dynasty. They say that archaeologists believe that Yik'in Chan K'awiil's tomb lies undiscovered somewhere underneath the temple. The ruins were very cool and the temple was
amazing to explore.
Day 16: I spent the whole day learning about the ancient Mayan city and exploring more temples and ruins. I learned that the name, Tikal, came from the Yucatec Maya language word, tik ak'al. I also learned that Temple IV was originally named Temple of the Two Headed Snake.
Day 17: Learning about Tikal history was fun especially since the history had to do with ancient Mayan ruins. Now, I am on my way to Ambergris Caye, Belize.
