North America Travel Diary - Carlie Barnett

Day 1: After flying three hours from Chicago to Banff, Canada, I finally arrived at the Hidden Ridge Resort. I relaxed for a couple of hours, unpacking and admiring the beautiful scenery surrounding the hotel. My hotel was only two miles from downtown Banff so tomorrow I was going to explore the town and go hiking in Banff National Park. The weather was in the 50s so it wouldn't be too hot out. Fortunately, English was commonly spoken in Banff, so I wouldn't have to learn any other languages.

Fortunately, English was commonly spoken in Banff, so I wouldn't have to learn any other languages.

Day 2: Banff National Park was amazing! I really enjoyed hiking Tunnel Mountain, which I finished in under two hours. The views

were spectacular and the wildlife was very cool too. I got to see grizzly bears, black bears, elk, and whitetail deer! And every now and then I would see a mountain goat galloping about. The plants and trees were incredible too. Wildflowers were common in the mountains and I also saw some really tall trees called white bark pines.

Day 3: I spent the whole day touring Bow Falls, which was a must see recommended by the hotel people. When I arrived at the waterfall, I meandered along the south shore of Bow River before climbing the falls. It was a very cool experience and I was glad I got to go.

Day 4: Banff was amazing and I was satisfied that I could go. The townspeople were all so welcoming and the town itself was so cute and small. Now, I am on my way to Whistler, Canada.
