Day 27 - Change of Plans

Sandpoint, Idaho, 07.28.2017

There was a change in plans for today. We originally were headed to a winery in Quincy, WA. However, there were weather warnings of high temps there. Since we were dry camping, meaning no water (but we can bring that with us), no sewer (we can take care of that) and no electricity. The electricity was the biggie because it meant no air conditioning.

We asked whether we could stay another night at the campground and they were filled. We went on line and found one nearby called Ravenwood. It is a new campground built in 2016. It is very nice … inground pool and lots of pines. Great place for families. There is a amusement park nearby and water park.

We headed to Sandpoint which is a town on Lake Pend Oreille. A very large lake..larger than Lake Coeur d’Alene. We walked around the town visiting some of the stores and then had a late lunch at the Trinity Restaurant overlooking the lake. We split a club sandwich and a spring salad topped with scallops. Very good.

We then drove around the area. Again, beautiful lake views with large mountains. We are so pleasantly surprised with Idaho. Personally, I envisioned flat fields of potatoes ;)

We came back to camp and headed for the pool. Didn’t get in because if was loaded with kids all trying to make the biggest splash. Like we said…great family campground!

Planning an early start tomorrow. We will be making a steady uphill trek to our next stop. We’re concerned about the heat with the car towing uphill so we want to take advantage of the cool morning.
