Day 59 - In Heaven

Manitou Springs, Colorado, 08.28.2017

We enjoyed an easy-going morning then headed to the Garden of the Gods which is a registered National Natural Landmark in Colorado Springs. The red rock formations were created during a geological upheaval along a natural fault line millions of years ago. A road winds around and between these formations. The name was given by a surveyor that believed the area was so beautiful it could be a garden for the gods.

From there we toured Old Colorado City which is a national historic district founded in 1859. It was established to support the gold rush in the area. Now it serves the local community and visitors with stores and restaurants. Stopped at Jorges for Happy Hour - two for one margaritas with chips and salsa.

Back to the Airstream to get ready for an early departure. The next 4 days will be driving from one campground to the next without unhitching. On our way to Winston Salem, NC.
