Wake up early to enjoy our chalet with a view of the premier waterhole in Okaukuejo. But first a ride through the park, where we pass several waterholes with lots of different animals. Along the way the first part is clear and green, but during the ride there is a strong wind that blows the dry sand and makes the landscape look very bizarre, as if a layer of powder snow had descended on the landscape. Everything is white gray and the animals are hiding together under trees. Strange experience. The Etosha pan is located near the lodge, a dry lake the size of the Netherlands. Once every few years there is water, thousands of flamingos come out. Fortunately the air at the lodge has cleared up again. We spend the night in a large park with many types of accommodation. We have a large 2-storey chalet with a view of the premier waterhole from our terrace. What a fantastic location, with elephants, white rhinos, giraffes, jackals, guinea fowls and many birds. Gijs and Miriam can look at the water place from bed and see the animals passing by during the night and dawn. We all get up early to see the sunrise and the animals that come to drink.
