On time for the ride to our next destination. First refuel and find the way from Swakopmund to the highway. That takes a while. After a stretch of paved road, the road changes to a gravel road, so the 4x4 comes in handy again.
Via the Spitskoppe, a special mountain with 2 pointed points, we drive to Twijfelfontein. Along the way we meet people of the Himba and Herera tribe, the original population that still lives according to the old traditions. We buy some souvenirs at the stalls and we hand out cookies to the children. We see a lot of carts with donkeys and we wonder where the residents get water from in this so dry looking plain.
When we arrive at the Twijfelfontein lodge we see how they have built the buildings against the mountain and in the rocks you see old drawings. The wide view with the colors of the evening sun make this a special location again.
