Arles to Limoux

We left the Arles’ accommodation after the owner described in detail her husband’s health, the amount of work she did everyday and made a strong effort to sell their business to us. Relieved we hit the road taking the coastal option.

We drove through the Camargue which is large wetlands which sit

between two arms of the Rhone River. The Camarguis horses are free-running and indigenous to the area. They are used by the local cowboys, gardians, to round up cattle that are used for fighting in Spain. We saw a few of the horses and quite a few flamingos.

We drove through a lot of small resort towns along the coast. One town had a hotel built in the shape of a cruise ship. There were a few old towns with medieval centre but many are new resort areas. There are also many oyster farms along this coast.

With our holiday over we returned home after a brief stop at the supermarket. We were on schedule to attend a wine tasting evening at the local wine atelier that we talked about in the "June" story.

Good to be home.
