Our Journey Continues

Flowers, Football, Fortifications, Friends and Fun

Flowers
Spring is in the air – the flowers are blooming. The weather is great and we’ve been getting out every day. One day we went to the square and found a band set up and locals happily dancing.

Food
Fresh fruit everywhere and so much variety. Please note the photo is of quail wings not our resident doves little drum sticks.

Football
John was even happier to find out that the Limoux Grizzlies – the local rugby league team who wear the same colour as his beloved Dragons – were coming first in the local region competition. We went to watch Limoux play St Esteve XIII. They won and went onto beat Lezignan in the Grand Finals in Narbonne. The players and supporters arrived back in town around midnight and were paraded through the streets despite the hour on a trailer on the back of a tractor.
Our favourite publican lets us watch his TV so we can keep up to date with the State of Origin.

Fortifications
We went with our apartment mates Paul and Kaye from the USA to Chateau D’Arques. The Chateau, which is not far from Limoux is another structure/ruin that originally belonged to the Cathars. Our quest is to see all Cathar buildings and ruins by the time we leave.

Friends
They’re a friendly mob here. Our apartment building is perfect for entertainment in the courtyard (excluding rain, snow and complete cold). Lots of gatherings and social events in May.

Fun
We combined business and fun when we went to Montpellier to finalise our visa requirements. The medical review was quite bizarre - eye check important but no interest in our medical history Montpellier is a beautiful town so it was great to go back and discover more. Lots of Australian native plants in the gardens. It’s amazing how much you see when you get lost.
