back.....they are tasty and not fully eaten at one sitting.

Today we are going to a man made small island out in the middle of the bay near a town called Perast. We take a taxi into Kotor to hit up the ATMs because we have a sum total of about 10 Euros between the three of us. Of course, we pick the ATM that gives nothing but 100 Euro notes. Not wanting to foist a Benji on a cab driver we walk around a bit and opt for lunch as an excuse to break up a large bill. After some indecision we end up at the same place on the square in old town we ate at yesterday. I have a calzone, Shirley has fish balls with spinach mashed potatoes and Carroll has a plate of Montenegro meat and cheese. We trudge to the taxi stand and head to Perast for about 10 Euros. Our driver is a younger and in the equivalent of the Montenegro merchant marine. Friendly and gave us some good advice on what to see.

We get to Perast after about 15 minutes. It is built right on the water and has a few old churches which we tour briefly. According to the guide book there are 17 churches in this tiny old town. The island out in the bay was started with the scuttling of two old ships and then the residence took boulders out in their rowboats to build the island. Took a while and was completed in the 16th century and then enlarged a few hundred years later. It costs 5 Euros for the round trip boat ride out to the island which is probably about 1/2 mile off shore.

There is not much to see except for the church but you have to admire the dedication of those people who made something from nothing. We explore a bit and then head back to the mainland for a

cool beverage before the taxi ride back.

We spend the later part of the afternoon writing and doing laundry. A taxi driver told us about a restaurant across the bay from where we are staying so we opt for that choice for dinner. The taxi zooms along streets barely wide enough for two cars to meet and we end up at the restaurant directly on the water. The only problem being there are gale force winds, or so it seems, and they are closed for a private party. Once again we taxi back closer to our place and eat at Ladovino, the restaurant we ate at the first night here. I try the lamb again, not as good as the first time but decent, Shirley has stuffed calamari and Carroll also has the lamb.

Tomorrow we are going to the Roman mosaics to see what they offer.
