On January 30, 1933 In Germany, the current president of Germany at the time Paul von Hindenburg rewarded the title of chancellor of Germany to Adolf Hitler. This event began the start of Hitler’s “ final solution” also known as the Holocaust. The first concentration camp was established in Dachau, Germany. The first group of people transported, or prisoner were the opponents of the Nazi government which mainly composed of Communists and Social Democrats. The Communists and Social Democrats were only a small portion of the camps the main population were the Jews and any individual who identified as homosexuals. The Jews were the main focus because
Hitler believed in olden myths of the “blood libel” which put fear in him that the Jews would contaminate the Aryan race.
It started our with Germany controlling the Jews, soldiers armed with weaponry were stationed in front on their businesses by to deny customers from buying or entering. Continuing the controlling, Hitler created The Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service to prevent Jews from working high end jobs and from living in certain communities. This law limited Jews to attend schools; only five percent of Jews were aloud in any school. The controlling of the Jews got down to the point they were treated like animals. When in the concentration camps the Jews over the age of ten were forced to wear the Star of David, so the Germans knew what they were. Even though it was a symbol for Jews, to the Germans it was made to humiliate and segregate them. The Germans also used gas chambers to kill off any Jews with mental diseases, hereditary diseases, disabilities, etc., which resulted in more than 100,000 people being murdered. Overall, the Jews went through destruction, what I described previously is just the start of it.
The Holocaust museum is a memorial site for the Jews who lost their lives in the concentration camps.
