Tales from Siberia

We took a short trip (30 minute tram ride) to one of our favorite spots in the city; a forest of walking paths, playgrounds and a sandy beach by the river. Toilets are a bit of an experience here; shopping malls are the best place to decide to relieve one's self as the toilets are modern, clean, and free. Small markets have much more rugged toilets that you have to pay ~$0.25 to use. And then there are the outhouses. Not pleasant. I had no choice but to use one, and told the kids to stay by Matt. Finn, of course, was too curious and followed me; he was delighted to see me squatting over a hole in the ground behind a concrete barrier. We managed to get through that experience without touching anything, and carried on our way to the playground. About 5 minutes later Finn turns to me and yells, "Mom! I found a hole for your pee!" Oh boy. Good thing he doesn't know how to yell that in Russian yet.
