Franny’s Awesome Cruise VOL. II

Yesterday we discovered Buenos Aires together with the show crew and the two lovely ballroom dancers who we’ve been hanging out with. No one had done any proper research beforehand so we spent the entire day browsing sort of aimlessly through the endless city.

Buenos Aires is not only massive but also extremely urban. The architecture which is indeed quite similar to Paris is very impressive and also the loudness and density of the city reminds me of the French capital back in the 80ies.

In fact the many pompous yet dirty haussmannian frontages of the buildings tell the story of huge bygone wealth. Nowadays the city with the somewhat European visage seems to be struggling with inflation and inequality. Instead of encountering cheerful people celebrating the recent World Cup victory as expected we run into several protests and see quite a few glaring images of poverty. But who knows… maybe the city was just partied out?

At lunch time we hit Puerto Madero, a highly gentrified post industrial area that looks a lot like Hafen City or Mediaspree. Well aware that we have left the actual Buenos Aires we very much enjoy the calm and cleanliness of the place.

Later on, after a few beers and as the sun sets, the city seems to calm down a little and we do catch quite a few nice vibes on the way back to the ship where we arrive totally exhausted just in time for dinner.

My cold is still quite strong this morning and my back is tensed as fuck. Yesterday I gave it my all running and sweating through Buenos Aires by 30 degrees so today I’m going to take it very easy and try to catch up the lack of sleep I’ve been accumulating since I left Berlin. Happy holiday relaxing everyone!
