The pictures say it all!
Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve has seven glaciers with the most famous one being Margerie Glacier. Margerie is the most active glacier calving large chunks of ice while making thunderous cracks. Unfortunately our grandchildren someday most likely won't see these glacier due to the melting that is taking place.
The ice is blue because when light hits the compacted ice, long wave length colors (reds) are absorbed wile short wave length colors (blues reflect back through the ice to your eyes. Truly amazing!
