We cruised all night and docked in Skagway at 7:00 am. The White Pass Scenic Railroad was our excursion for the day.
We saw breathtaking waterfalls and mountains. The locomotive climbed nearly 3,000 feet up 20 miles of steep grades and around cliff hanging turns. The conductor retraced the original route telling us the history behind the making of the railway and pointing out several historic mountain ranges such as Bridal Veil Falls, Inspiration Point and Dead Horse Gulch.
After the train ride we went into town and had lunch at the Northern Lights Pizzaria and Mexican restaurant. It is a small world...the owners are the family of one of Allison's clients back home in Hartford.
We shopped and even visited the first legal marijuana shop in Alaska.
