Headed out to Bangor Maine to find Spencer a lobster - Hwy 2 to Hwy 9. I did my research - best fresh lobster at McLaughlin's. The weather has really heated up - 9o degrees in Maine. I've shedded all my layers down to a shirt and my jacket with all vents open. Beautiful scenery all the way to Bangor - crossed over into the USA in St Stephens without incident - yea we have cell service again!
Hwy 2 to Gorham was not our best road - lots of traffic and slow going. Finally made it to our B&B Mount Washington Inn. Very old inn - yard needed some work - but we settled into our little 1800's room played some gin and Spencer was out by 9:00.

When I opened the curtains this morning I was blinded by the sunshine and got excited about the day. The breakfast crowd was bigger than usual so I got an abbreviated plate for us to split. I am the tea and grudles getter and take my job serious.
This is our last day in Canada - I've grown to like the roads, forests, geography, and people. Pleasant all round place and citizens. Road signs in French and English seems a bit silly but helps us practice our pigeon France'. We do hear it spoken occasionally but mostly hear English with a Scottish twist. Pleasant to the ear.
Before crossing into Maine, we took a break along a tidal river where AT&T replaced at least some maps. VB's goal was to find the best lobster in Bangor and that she did. After meandering around, we found McLaughlins where I had the most delicious lobster roll I ever ate. Although it was in the low 90's, we feasted and relaxed in the outside benches. Mmm good. Best meal of the trip for me!
Getting across Maine and into New Hampshire tried my patience as the roads were rough and full of traffic. But once into NH, things got a lot nicer. Signs warning of moose made us watchful but brought no sightings.
We got a little gun shy thinking things were too Gatlingburgish in Conway so I called and got a room at the Mt. Washington B&B. As we pulled in, things looked a little unkept but the inn keeper was nice (maybe too chatty) and the room was clean & small...not bad for $100. VB said it was the room Gus died in. After a walk down to the pond, we showered, played cards, and I crashed. Good day of riding!
