NORTH AMERICA

1. The photogenic and hospitable Montana

In the Bitterroot Valley you will experience authentic Montana in peace. You will travel between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park on Highway 93 through an oasis of green. A babbling river, vast fields and bare rock peaks: the nature along this route is beautiful. On the widest plains are historic villages such as Lolo, Florence and Hamilton. Here the hospitality of the inhabitants is particularly noticeable. Have a chat in cozy restaurants and stay with the locals to experience the real Montana.

2. Past giant trees and cliffs in California

Highway 1 along the California coast is one of the most famous road trip routes in the US. Spectacular cliffs, clear blue sea, sun on your roof and cruise away. The northern part, between Oregon and San Francisco, is quieter but no less beautiful. Here you also drive along the rugged coast and photogenic coastal villages such as 19th-century Mendocino. Inland are the up to 115 meter high sequoia and redwood trees of the Redwoods National Park. Visit historic places such as Eureka, Trinidad and Requa, where you are in untouched nature.

3. Enjoying music in the deep south

Make a playlist for this musical road trip through the southern US. Here lies the (Blues) Highway 61, on which you will travel through (musical) history. With live performances and local dishes, you will experience the authentic south along the way. Experience Rock 'n Roll in Memphis, where Graceland, Elvis Presley's estate, is also located. Further south lies Home of the Blues Clarksdale, where you will visit the iconic Delta Blues Museum. The road trip ends in New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz music with an interesting mix of cultures.

4. Through the mountains along historic towns

The San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway is located in southwestern Colorado, between Durango and Silverton. The route runs through the San Juan Mountains, so expect lush valleys and spectacular mountains along the winding asphalt. In the summer, you can go for beautiful hiking and biking tours, in the winter you can race down the white slopes on skis. Visit Mesa Verde National Park with 700-year-old cliff dwellings. Surrounded by mountains are historic towns such as Durango, Silverton and Telluride, which have preserved the atmosphere of the Old West. From Durango, board a historic train for an unforgettable ride through the mountains.

5. From sea to mountains in Canada

For a very varied road trip through Canada, drive from Vancouver to Pemberton on the Sea to Sky Highway. Vancouver is located on the sea and is surrounded by nature. By car, follow the coast northwards, further and further towards the mountains. The Whistler Valley is a wide valley with many lakes. Take a canoe trip surrounded by mountains, or seek higher ground with a ski adventure, hike or mountain bike tour. For an unforgettable ending, drive on Highway 99 from Pemberton to Cache Creek.

6. Jihaaa, like a cowboy through the Rocky Mountains

The Rocky Mountains in Canada are the land of large herds of cows on green plains, driven by tough cowboys on muscular horses. On the Cowboy Trail along Highway 22 you immerse yourself in this ancient culture. Ride through beautiful valleys with grass, cows and babbling rivers, surrounded by green mountains. Stay on a ranch, take a horse ride and dine in authentic restaurants with cow skulls on the wall.
