Retirement Odyssey
Said farewell to the heat of Vaison-la-Romaine this morning, but it was just as hot in Roussillon when we arrived at noon. There's supposed to be a front going through tonight with some rain and a 20-25 degree F drop in temperatures tomorrow. Who would have guessed we'd be happy with rain and cool temperatures !?!?
We had a nice rural drive to Roussillon, though some brand new roundabouts confused the GPS at times.There were fewer vineyards and more fruit (apricot and apples under shade cloth) and olive trees.
The red ochre cliffs that Roussillon sits on remind us of Bryce canyon, but not so extensive. It's a small town; we saw it all in just a few hours. There's a Michelin 1 star restaurant in our hotel. We had a good dinner there tonight, but decided to stay "a l'interieur" to take advantage of the "clime". Besides, it was soon dark and those on the terrasse were seeing very little.
