Mem's Journey to Scotland

They say every journey starts with a single step. In this case, it's been more of a giant leap of faith, if you'll excuse the double cliches in my first two lines.

It took a lot of deep thought and consideration to decide to quit my job, leave behind financial security, and scoot off to Scotland for several months of discovery.
Swapping security for adventure, familiarity with new faces and places, and a sense of place for a sense of adventure.

I write this from the comfort of my own couch at home. In three days,

Home sweet home

They say every journey starts with a single step. In this case, it's been more of a giant leap of faith, if you'll excuse the double cliches in my first two lines.

It took a lot of deep thought and consideration to decide to quit my job, leave behind financial security, and scoot off to Scotland for several months of discovery.
Swapping security for adventure, familiarity with new faces and places, and a sense of place for a sense of adventure.

I write this from the comfort of my own couch at home. In three days,

I'll be en route to a new country and a new way of living.
The last five years have been a journey towards security. Having split with my partner in 2011, I moved house five times in the space of a year, changed jobs three times and spent the vast majority of that time recovering my heart and sense of self.

I discovered new ways to eat, live, exercise and love. Found fitness, confidence, and grew friendships to new levels.
Friends who, when I told them I was thinking of turning down a promotion in favour of skipping the country, gave me a hug, a thumbs up, and a giant "FINALLY! DO IT!"

So here I am, three days out from this new chapter and adventure.
Officially unemployed, and privileged to be in a position to do this.
Gratitude to those who listened to me flit back and forth, undecided for weeks and months.
To my employer, who was most patient while I left him hanging.
To my beautiful colleagues, who made my job so easy and lovable.
To my incredible customers, who showed more appreciation than I've ever known before, and nearly made me cry at work (in the best way possible)
To my friends and family, who love me and have my back. (And you know I love you just as much and then some!)

This journey began the day I decided that I would go. I don't know why, I don't know how it will pan out. All I know is that I need to. There's a pulling from deep inside, dragging me towards Scotland for reasons unknown.

Thanks for stopping by here to share it all with me, while I discover the reasons along the way.
