Nazareth was an not a very interesting place to go for me because there were not any ruins for us to see, we just went to the Church of the Annunciation and a Nazareth recreation village. Somehow, I felt like I wanted to see something that really indicated the historical reference of the location.
The Church of the Annunciation was very interesting simply because it was the biggest church in Israel, but even then it was very small in comparison to some of the other churches I have seen in Europe, so it was not that emotionally spectacular for me. It was still very, very beautiful and it was good to see just to say I had been there.
The Nazareth village was very interesting and they get an "A" for effort. My problem with the village was that I always told myself in the back of my mind that this is probably not historically accurate and it ruined the experience for me. It was good to enter into a tomb, and that was probably the most exciting part for me. At one point I turned around from inside the tomb and two girls from our group were looking in, and I got a flash of Mary and Martha and what they must have experienced when they looked in and found an empty tomb.
It was a pretty sight and the sun was streaming in, so they were kinda dark. It was when it hit me where I was. That I was walking where Jesus walked and talked. It was a very emotional experience for me.
