Right now i am situated in the white city of Peru "Arequipa", where i found some rest after the crazy weeks of travelling. This city has a more european influence and was built during the colonial time. I am enjoying the bautiful buildings and good food like Adobo (pork meat with sauce) and queso helado (ice cream). Also the view from my room on the volcanoes is really not bad. To bad i don't have time to go visit the Colca valley, but tomorrow i am already moving further.
But the most amazing trip, i already did: the jeep tour in the salt flats. I never saw such beautiful views and landscapes in my life. After a quick stop in Copacabana for the Isla del Sol on the bolivian side of the Titicaca lake, and the city, La Paz, me and some other volunteers went to Uyuni by bus. From there a guide took us by jeep to the first stop in the desert: the train cemetery, which was already really cool. We had lots of fun together in the Gran Salar de Uyuni where we were able to make some perspective shots. We stayed in a real hotel de sal, saw the most stunning laguna's, flamenco's, cactus', volcanoes, hot springs, geysers and also we survived the cold in the nights.
Me and Jessica travelled further to San Pedro de Atacama after the salt flats. It's a little backpacker town in the chilean desert and known for its astronomic tours. We had the opportunity to experience a sky full of stars and we even saw venus, mars and saturnus. The Valle de la luna and Valle de la muerte are the highlights here. Sadly i had to say goodbye to my friend Jessica here, but we promised we will see each other soon!
Tomorrow i will continue my trip along the peruvian coast! So excited!
