My diary

We took a quick day trip to the beautiful city of Manchester. It is about 2 hours above Birmingham and home to some beautiful sights. We started our trip with a walk down to Castlefield. This area was first settled by the Romans in 79 A.D. and many of their artefacts were located when expanding the city of Manchester. From there we went towards the Museum of Science and Industry. The Museum had so many great exhibits that we enjoyed exploring. The Museum itself is also a historic artefact considering it is based on the site of the oldest passenger railway station in the planet. After the museum, we used Manchesters free bus service to get up to the John Rylands library.

This gorgeous library is a Victorian neo-gothic building which houses some very famous collections. The Manchester Cathedral was the next building we visited, and unfortunately, we were not permitted to take photos inside. The building on the outside, however, is also a gorgeous piece of architecture. We headed towards Chetham's library, the oldest public library in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, it was closed by the time we arrived but it was a great thing to try and see! Although it was chilly the day we were touring, Manchester is accessible by foot and we had a great time.
