A chicken in kiwiland.

Kia ora, my faithful readers! I hope you enjoy reading my diary as much as I enjoy creating it for you. To my surprise I realised I like taking road trips, choosing driving itineraries and exploring natural wonders. It’s interesting, how I have changed. In childhood it was a nightmare for me to go somewhere by car. I spent this weekend in a winter fairy-tale sliding down the slopes in a snow tube and admiring vicinities of lake Tekapo. Hold on; let me tell this in order.
Driving along the South Island is a unique experience; they say that South Island is for those who like to connect with nature whereas as North Island is for hustle and bustle of the city. Kiwis have the best of both worlds, don’t they?
New Zealand weather can be described as four seasons in one day, because when we were leaving Christchurch it felt like spring but when we reached Tekapo the temperature just dropped away and it was already winter. It was so great to look through the windows and see mountains, trees and fields all around you. The feeling of joy when I saw pigs grazing at grass can be compared to nothing. I suppose my kin and friends know how much I love them.
By the time we reached Tekapo the afternoon was already among us, so we started exploring the environment around the lakes, doing a bit of hiking, trying to catch rabbits…there were millions of them around lake Alexandria.
The skating ring was also a bit of a surprise for me as I have never seen it surrounded by forests and mountains. And the coziest part was to heat your cold legs in front of a fireplace while admiring other skaters.
My first experience in hot springs went pretty smoothly even though I was freaked out when I realized I had to go outside in my swimming suit when It was -3 degrees.
We were also gazing at the stars. It seemed as if we were looking through a microscope at the galaxies that exist far beyond our imagination. I think some of my readers would like to see this quote here "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite." I know I'm going out on a limb here but I shall write something in French, it’s still very poor but at least I am making smidgeons of progress. Now as I am dripping with sweat I switch back into English.
There are some things in life that you don’t have words for, you just simply can’t put that into a system. As if you are an athlete who has won a gold medal for the first time and you don’t know what to say to the journalists. (Wow...It just came to my mind that in ‘journalist’ there is a French word ‘jour’...my inner linguist is jumping for joy)
-How do you feel now?
-Eh…surreal?
The allure of NZ can only correspond to the allure of a young but at the same time mature and confident girl who cherishes her experience and values her beliefs.

Oh…I have so many things to write about…
that’s the thing,
you only need to make a first step,
and ideas just start jogging inside your head.
I hope this small story tickled your fancy, bye for now I’m packing my suitcase and off we go to the Big Smoke.
