The last weekend of winter is in-the-books and there are so many more things to write about. I have seen how designers made their little masterpieces come to life with exquisite models, sophisticated make-up, refined accessories and breathtaking music. It’s all about the atmosphere, not even about the gowns themselves. After seizing the opportunity to feel as an insider of the glamorous world of catwalk fashion and floaty fabric, we decided to finish our midwinter break by exploring Auckland and its suburbs.
Castor Bay is a nice nook for those who enjoy long strolls and want to add some adventures notes to their travels. There is a cliff that points into the sea where old roots and ancient trees grow. There you can feel like a monkey in the jungle and have a good and satisfying 'climb'.
The increadible feeling you get when laying your eyes on areas you once viewed in New Zealand films, can be compared to nothing. I mean the Rangitoto Island that at first I saw in the new movie ‘Poi E’. We called it an ‘Invisible mountain’ because it disappeared when it started raining and a gale ranged. When clouds gradually dispersed we were able to see the mountain again.
I, also, want to express my tender love towards the mighty trees that grow all around New Zealand. They bring my childhood memories of the cartoon 'Candy-Candy', a coming-of-age story about a heroine that climbed trees with the ease of a squirrel and could love so genuinely and passionately. So I can’t resist the temptation of climbing such hospitable trees and playing a game of ‘let’s pretend’.
Today we were floating away in our own Auckland fairy tale, strolling along parks, going up the Sky Tower and much more.
There are still some days left in Auckland, but I already miss our garden-loving Christchurch.
By the way, I decided to make my blog more interactive, fancy answering some of my questions in comments below?^^
