My diary

While here at EON, we have barely scratched the surface of virtual reality. On our first day, we spent time in their showroom, touring the various pieces they show their clients. In the past, I have had opportunities to use tilt brush, the 3D painting app. Again at EON, I spent some time painting inside this 3D space with a variety of fun brushes. It is incredible to experience the ability to walk inside a world you have created. This experience must be a shadow of how the Lord felt walking in the Garden with Adam and Eve after he created the world. We also participated in a sample training lesson in which you learn how to operate a machine, using remote controls to turn knobs and switches. I love the educational value of this, and I imagine it being very useful in the future for essentially learning how to do anything. One other time, our tutor wanted to show us an immersive experience underwater. It was fascinating how my "hands" could touch the jellyfish and they would scatter away in fear. EON Reality in Laval focuses mostly on creating 3D educational apps for schools. In our projects, we have not experimented with virtual reality or any of the software directly related. Some developers and designers work with virtual reality, but I have not seen their projects yet. I have been able to watch a few of the designers build 3D models in a new VR software called Microsoft Maquette. It seems to be very similar to tilt brush, but specific to building rather than painting. I am learning how quickly technology is moving on the front lines. New concepts are materialized everyday, it is fascinating. I am excited to begin learning Unity, which is what I can use to transfer my designs into an application.
