Camino de Santiago

What a great sleep I had last night and I didn't get up again till 5am it was bliss. I went about the morning ritual, you know dressing the feet( honestly I'm sick of looking at feet, mine and everyone else's, I hate them Iv always hated them yet Iv never given them more attention!)

As I got myself ready I quickly checked my phone before leaving the wifi zone. I'd received a message form a good friend of mine telling me that she had got a promotion at work and honestly no one deserves it more then she. It was really great news to hear just before I set off, but funnily enough it sent my mind on its own spiral!

It wasn't the first person that I had heard of recently receiving a promotion or a bonus, and genuinely I am happy for all of them. For some reason tho it started to make me think things like 'god no one is going to give me a pay rise or a promotion' I know it sounds silly but you'll see where I'm going with this. We all have different professions some allow us to travel some sit at a desk and like myself some stand on their feet all day. Iv often been envious of people who get to travel for work, it just seems so fabulous flying here there and everywhere but the reality is its hard work and not a holiday!

It's a classic of the grass is always greener on the other side, or is it? My point being is we can all look at other people's jobs, benefits and lifestyles and wish we had what they had or could acquire it and the thing is we can,but would we be happy? With one thing comes another, so be careful what you wish for. We all creat are own lives, anything that we have or want is a manifestation of are own thoughts 'thoughts become things' this is a fact.

So when I heard my friends great news I had feelings of happiness yet after a while it frightened me, which is silly as it wasn't going to affect my life. After I thought about it all tho I realised, I'm the only one with the power to Promote myself or give myself a pay rise, I'm the boss for God sake lol and I already have great benefits, I fly home to Ireland twice a year and Iv just taken 9weeks off to do this amazing trip of a lifetime. Sometimes we can be so focused on what others have or are getting we cease to forget what we have ourselves??

Before I realised I'd completed half the walk, I hadn't even stopped for breakfast where I though I would as I was so caught up in my thoughts I walked straight through the town and up half a mountain! When I did stop to eat tho it was just Devine. Today's walk was very up and down but it made it a little more interesting, ya know keeping me on my toes lol My next stop would be Portomarín for lunch(thank god for all the walking or I'd be the size of a house!)

It was a long day but the last of them as the next three days were going to be shortish, your talking about 25km average maybe! As I walked into Portomarín I wasn't hungry at all so I county yes on as far as Gonzar and ate there knowing id only have another 5km left before reaching my stop point for the day, Ventas De Narón. It was one of those a moments when I saw the name of the hostel I couldn't believe me luck as I thought it was another town away but I'd reached it already!!

Ended up spending the afternoon with an Irish girl a German girl and an Italian guy we had a great laugh together and we ended up just staying together for dinner. It was a nice way to spend the evening, we all headed to bed around 9ish and i was out like a light!
