Nida Break......

Nida, Lithuania, 07.12.2017

Hopped on an early bus yesterday morning to head to the coast for a little sand and surf. Neat little narrow strip of land off the coast of Lithuania that is shared by Russia and Lithuania. We went to Nida which is just 3 km north of the Russian border city of Kalingrad. Nice little place with not much to see except some beach, sand dunes, and the Baltic Sea. Nice relaxing time. Kinda felt like we should be doing more since we have been so busy! Toured the town yesterday and today we hiked down to the sand dunes and then over to the beach for a swim in the Baltic Sea. Hoped to have a better day on the beach but it was mostly overcast and cool. Weather cleared off later in the day and we were able to get back to the beach for a

pleasant evening and a sunset. All in all it was a nice little jaunt over to the coast to get away from the hustle and noise of the cities. Plan to head to Riga, Latvia tomorrow. Want to use it as a base to do some trips to see a few sites around the countryside. Will see how that works out!
