Idiot Abroad

After an exhausting night of taking pictures and throwing dry bones in the air for action shots that didn't work lol, we all slept with the idea of waking up 7am as soon as the grocery store opened(KAUFLANDDDD)
to buy breakfast so we won't be angry when we wake up.

That being said we were angry when we woke up and went sleepily grocery shopping HAHA. But we made it and somewhat understood what we were buying. We went to the chocolate aisle last which then greatly increased our moods and we bought out Kauflands chocolate.

Then we went home, had breakfast, and went to sleep. HAHA. or carissa and my mom did because she drove a thousand years the day before.

Around noon everyone arose from the dead and we went towards my Dads hometown, Zunsweier!! But first we stopped in offenburg to find some sandals for my dad. And boy, did my family really go out. Considering the fact that I overpacked, I haven't bought anything during this trip except a very important and highly practical cuckoo whistle. But that didn't stop my dad, carissa, and my mom from buying two pairs of shoes each at this store lol. The target was to get my dad some sandals but quite early on carissa and my mom deterred away from that mission. In the end everyone was 2 pairs richer minus me who just enjoyed watching them travel around the store with multiple shoes in hand.

We then made it to Zunsweier where my dad met with Maria who babysat Dad when he was younger and takes care of his Aunt.
They were really welcoming and gave us this juice that was made from flowers which i thought was really cool haha. They only spoke german so carissa and i got to use our years of german class skills (which means we can say "hello", "goodbye", and "the bear read the book")
and my mom who is quite a talker suffered in forced silence hahahah. While my dad, the nontalker, suffered in translating and doing all the talking in a language he stopped learning when he was 6 hahahah.(but still knew enough to write carissa and my german papers, hence our expansive german vocabulary knowledge...)

We had a LOT of coffee for late afternoon which was funny, as I was trying to cut back but carissa doesn't really drink caffeine and so they kept forcefully and lovingly refilling ours and i kept drinking carissa's for her so I ended up having like 6 cups of coffee lol, so cutting back was working well for me. They also had a huuuuge really nice cake that we had to eat all of LOL.

Aunt Erika was there and she's a 93 year old hilarious woman, her facial expressions and the way she talks was great, even though we couldn't understand her dialect to save our lives we would just nod and smile as she talked to us because you can assume it was funny lol.

so that was really nice, then Rheinhard who is Maria's son(we seriously struggled with how we are related to people or who anyone was this trip) who spoke english(a saving grace for my mom who then talked nonstop) took us for a walk up where you can see france from the hill which was a nice stroll. and then we took some pictures to send our family back home proof that we were here hahah.

We went back to Buhl and stopped off at kaufland to get more things(things = food) and realized that apparently in buhl kaufland is the place to be at night..since all these guys in their 20s-40s were outside hanging by their cars drinking by themselves or whatnot...lol....soooo that was random, who knew grocery stores were that much fun....lol, but then we had a running joke whenever we wondered what we should do that we could just hangout in kaufland as that's the place to be.

another day another nickel!

It was really nice to see my dad's hometown and the people who knew him when he was younger, and warmed my heart to hear him say zunsweier was his lieblingsplatz(favorite place), though i'm sure kaufland is a close second...
