Today we are leaving Yellowstone. The exit is much drearier than the entrance. Partly because the West Entrance was much more plush that the North Exit. Partly because tiredness and lack of tea have left the eyelids feeling more like sandbags. Alan’s relentless packing and shoving of bags to get the tent trailer to close has left him less-than-excited to repeat the process again tomorrow, which means we may trot up to Glacier for a longer drive to prevent multiple stops and packing. In fact, if Alan wasn’t taking a wife and four children on vacation, the tent trailer would have had a “For Sale” sign hanging on it already at Yellowstone. Alas, here we are, lugging it behind faithfully. Maybe we should give it a name to help him be more attached. Name or not, things are looking up after getting to attend a church service at the edge of Yellowstone Lake, taking our last walk around the Mammoth Hot Springs, stumbling upon female elk within 10 feet and Clara receiving her Geyser Junior Ranger Badge, we can look back at Yellowstone with fond memories.
Here are the kids’ top 3 favorites in Yellowstone:
