Southeast Asia Post Grad Trip

Today, we started with an 8:15 Air Asia flight to Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand. The flight was small and not very full, and only took about an hour. We got into Chiang Mai, and moved into the hostel. This hostel is very nice, with many tourists and nice rooms, air conditioning, good wifi, etc.

It is extremely hot in Thailand right now. The whole day it hovered in the 90s and is very humid, since Monsoon season is fast approaching.

We started the day by heading to some of the famous temples in the city. Chiang Mai is known for its beautiful buddhist temples, and they did not disappoint. We saw several of the main ones, such as Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh and some other smaller ones. We got lunch at a very cheap and tasty thai place, and had a series of delicious milk teas to get us through the heat.

In the afternoon, we continued looking at temples and then went to the Sunday Walking Market. This is an enormous market covering nearly 40 square blocks in the heart of the city. We spent a long time walking around the market, admiring the cheap goods and eating street food.

Then we all went back to the hostel for showers, and a few people went out later to a couple bars for a few drinks before we all turned in for the night.
