The history of Rome is not one that is simple or full of happy stories, it is riddled with conquerings, killings, persecutions, and incarcerations. However, Rome as a whole has always managed to maintain a certain pride and joy in their cultured. I've witness that Romans throughout time have stayed rooted in their beginnings and are always true to what they believe in. There have been many different forms of government, prominent religions, tyrants, and saints, fascists and democrats. With a three thousand year history Rome has truly seen a lot, and a lot of that can be seen beneath the streets of the present day city. It was common practice that when you wanted to build something where there was already a building, rather than demolish it, remove the bricks and foundation then build what was wanted, the unwanted building would simply be filled with earth and used as the foundation for the new building. This process has amazingly preserved many parts of Rome, each new discovery filling in a new piece of the convoluted puzzle that is Rome's history.
