Spending two weeks in Rome learning about its history and culture has been a truly eye opening and cathartic experience in a way. Normally the first to turn their nose up at a history text book, this made history a new and exciting experience for me and because of that I have absolutely fallen in love with the city. Every avenue has a story and a feeling that maybe someone great shared this same space and the long past of Rome seems to hold a sort of bubble over the city that I became aware of early on. Rome runs at a fast pace today but at the same time you can feel the energy of people in the past riding horses walking on the same streets (or the streets underground modern streets). The history, culture, people, and food are still racing around my mind and I already can not wait to go back with the knowledge I have now so that next time I can enhance my experience and gain an even deeper understanding of The Eternal City.
