Good Morning! Thought I was in the Tropics at “71” this morning. The lime tree is in bloom, the gardens are lush, the grass is green, the air warm and misty. The sun was just starting to peak through the trees when I heard the whistle of the kettle, thank you Robert! We had a brief visit in Stittsville before heading to the Eastern Townships where we will spend a few days.

purple in the sunshine. Photos did not do them justice. We had lunch at Microbrasserie La Memphre. Sitting outside on the wrap around porch of an 1840 built home was perfect for this gorgeous summer day. Of course a cold beer and poutine were Tony’s choice. Quebec’s poutine was amazing and I had duck wings with Rosé, Tony liked those too. We also shared a ceaser salad, a nice added touch were fried capers. After a walk in the park we were on the road.
A short drive through farmland, we arrived at Ayer’s Cliff, a small village of 1,150. This cliff towers over the southern shore of beautiful Lake Massawippi “lake of deep waters”. Ayer’s Cliff has an Anglo-Saxon allure with its heritage homes, bandstand and fairgrounds, kind of reminds me of Niagara on the Lake. This year the grounds will host its 173 Fall Fair. We will spend the night here at Ripplecove. The lake is calm, cold and very quiet. On arrival no boats were out and about. Hard to believe on such a perfect day.
