My diary

"Vienna! The city of music!" And it's only a three hour bus ride from Salzburg! (I am really, really hating this bus!)

While in Vienna , we took a tour around the city and were able to stop at the Schonbrunn Palace. What an impressive and astounding property. I learned that this was someone's "summer" home. How is that even possible! What could their larger "permanent" residence actually look like? Like Salzburg, Mozart is all over this town. There is a story about when he played in the palace - as a six year old musical child prodigy - that he jumped into the Empress' lap and kissed her. He was just a kid!

That night we had a "Heurigen" dinner. The closest thing to something like this in America is a dinner at a vineyard or a small brewery. It's definitely better than being at the ones in the US because this has more of a restaurant/bar feel. Plus, I was able to find something I could actually eat on the menu! We actually had a really great time at this dinner. Everyone was cheerful, relaxed and just living in the moment. It was definitely one of the best group dinners we had.
