We had a lazy morning in our hotel, knowing that we had two days of travelling ahead. Then we packed up and left our bags with reception at the hotel and went out for last minute shopping. We walked through the streets of Paris in the direction of Galeries Lafayette the huge shopping centre we have visited several times near the Paris Opera House. Level 6 has some great souvenirs, books and other interesting stuff for purchase, including some good food options for lunch. We found two Asterix books we had not seen before, not written by Goscinny and Uderzo, who are both dead, but their successors who have kept their style. I am not sure of the quality of
the narrative, we have yet to read them.
We had some lunch at Galeries Lafayette and then went up to level 7 for a last look at the Paris skyline before heading back to the hotel to collect our bags and then embark on our long journey homewards. We caught the metro, then switched to the RER train to Charles de Gaulle Airport. We had plenty of time so we enjoyed a rest after checking in our baggage, receiving our boarding passes and going through customs.
We are flying home on Air China. We are mostly sharing the place with Chinese obviously heading home after a holiday in Paris.
Our Parisian and French adventure is all but over. It was a very enjoyable two weeks. Au revoir, Francaise.
Our journey home is broken by a 12 hour stopover in Beijing. We leave Paris at 8:20pm on Saturday and are scheduled to arrive in Sydney at 2:50pm on Monday.
The holiday was very special and will be long remembered.
