We made it to Mullett Lake! It was a longggggg drive through New York and Canada but made it to Michigan. I was SO amazed by the beauty of upstate New York and could not believe the sunset over the river there. It was stunning. Ella and I kept sighing over it! After the sunset there, it was a long 4 hours to Niagara Falls to stay in a Travelodge there. I slept like a rock after 10 hours of driving. We traded off every 2 hours, so that helped!
Wednesday, we woke up and went to a diner for breakfast in Niagara. We drove over to the falls and it was SO cool! They were HUGE! It was so cool to drive up to it and it was so unexpected to have giant waterfalls right in front of you. What a crazy natural wonder! I was also expecting extra cheesiness (which was there!) but was mostly focused on the beauty of the falls instead. We took a Maid of the Mist tour (can't pass that up!) and it was hilarious. It's literally just getting misted with the river water. The water was a Carribean blue, it was SO pretty.
After our tour, we drove through Canada to Michigan. Note to self, bring a map of Canada when

you're driving through Canada. We were pretty lost and confused, but made it! Those damn border check points though. Ugh! Getting back into the USA was HORRIBLE! We sat in the car for at least an hour or longer just waiting to get our passports looked at. But, it was okay! We ate lots of snacks and listened to funny podcasts.
Once we made it to Mullett, it was a huge sigh of relief! The cottage is new to me and looks so peaceful and quiet. Perfect! We've been having nice glasses of wine, playing triple Solitaire (oxymoron), and enjoying the sunshine.
Ella and I went over to Mackinac Island today and had a great time! We biked around the whole island and saw some amazing views of the bridge and the bright blue water. We had a cocktail before the ferry and headed back to the lake this evening. After a delicious steak dinner, we worked on getting Ella up on skis! Not yet, but there's hope for her later this week! :)
