No bad weather

11.23.2016

Today it was extremely foggy, kind of cold and everything was covered in ice. A perfect day for a romp through the forest! Actually, I was almost discouraged, but opted to go anyway, and I'm so glad I did!
There are several great things about running in conditions like this...
1) It makes you feel really proud of yourself. Look at me! I will not be discouraged! Take that world!
2) When you run up (or down) steepish hills that are covered in ice and snow, a lot of the internal pressure to run quickly goes away and a significant portion of the run becomes sliding around with your arms stretched wide for balance. Fun.
3) Pine forests in the fog are stunning in this way that feels kind of eerie and solitary.
4) When in Norway, although part of the joy is this sense of solitariness, you are so definitively not alone. There were so many other people out on the trails! This has been a theme for me, whenever I am feeling impressed with myself for braving the

elements, I get out and there are still tons of Norwegians in the woods. It doesn't matter if its dark, cold, icey, raining...whatever, they're out there, which leads to being a part of this beautiful community of strangers. It's excellent.

No bad weather, only bad clothing.
