Small Moments Like These

Finding a place called Thaibiza Rocks in Chiang Mai sums up my time in Bangkok. Arrived in a Taxi and get dropped off in the famous busy Koh San Road which is like any holiday main strip I have ever been to but everyone with backpacks and tuktuks everywhere. What's the first thing I do? Yes you guessed it I get a Thai Green Curry in the nearest restaraunt I could find! This wasn't the best move I made, but I don't want to give you the gory details. I booked a luxury hotel for the first night but ended up staying there 3 nights due to the fact I was so hungover from all the drinking and didn't want to move!!

The places sold drinks for 50p and had house music blaring everywhere down Koh San Road, I was definitely in my element. After meeting several people on the first few days I knew this was definitely the right choice to start here. I checked into a shared dorm for 1 night which wasn't the best move. A guy on the top bunk next to me got lucky with an Asian girl and decided to bring her back ?? , let's just say it wasn't the best nights sleep for me or the poor guy on the bottom bunk of their bed! After the first few days mayhem in Bangkok I knew I had to leave otherwise this trip will be over sooner rather than later

spending all my money on mohito buckets, laughing gas and scorpions.

With so many options and people travelling in all kinds of directions I decided to take a trip north to Chiang Mai and Pai by a plane journey which took a long 1 hour. I could of got a 12 hour night bus but I was still recovering from the curry and all the scorpions I ate when I was intoxicated. This was the best decision I could of made as the north of Thailand is the most beautiful place i have ever seen. In Chiang Mai I had a temple day and saw about 5 temples in 1 day which were all beautifully decorated and all with a Buddha, even though the long walk did give me blisters it was a productive day and I was starting to take some actual pictures. The night market is about 1km Long with clothes and every kind of food you can think of from Sushi to Doner Kebabs, and no I wasn't a typical Brit I avoided the kebab. I brought some comfy trousers which I basically live in now and going to ditch half my wardrobe.

After meeting up with two friends we decided to go to Pai which is up up up in the mountains by a 4 hour bus journey. We booked into a bungalow right next to the river which cost me a massive 2 pound for the night! We thought it was going to be a good move but it was the coldest night I have ever had in my life as they didn't provide us with a blanket as we didn't think we would need one . I woke up at 6am shivering and my feet were blue so I decided to put 3 boxer shorts on

a t shirt, a vest, a hoody and two pairs of socks. We learnt from our mistake and got the blankets the next night and it was all forgotten about.

We decided to get scooters for two days and I learnt the hard way on how to drive one. I was told pull the handle so that's what I did and I zoomed straight down this busy market , very close to crashing but somehow I survived it. The views of the mountains and the fields are stunning and you can see for miles in the distance. I had to pinch myself on the bike to make sure I wasn't dreaming. We found a clear waterfall about 40 feet where people were sliding down. It was so good to drive around and stop off wherever we wanted. The night times were a chilled vibe with acoustic sets in most bars with a hippy and reggae vibe which I could easily say I wouldn't of wanted to be anywhere else in the world at that time. Amazing food stalls, amazing people, amazing scenery and amazing company.

I write this post as I am currently stuck in traffic down the mountains heading back to Chiang Mai ! I Thought I came away to get away from that crap! In a few days I meet my sister and my mum, so at the moment life is good!!
