Bucharest - Veliko Tarnovo

Our members will be visiting the Museum of the Romanian Peasant and the Village Museum this morning.

The Village Museum is one of the greatest outdoor museums in the Balkan. There are more than 60 original houses, farmsteads, windmills, watermills and churches from all over Romania's historic regions: Transylvania, Oltenia, Dobrogea and Moldova.

"The Peasant Museum is one of the most enjoyable in Bucharest, and one of the best in the country. There are exhibitions covering all aspects of Romanian peasant life, from handpainted Easter eggs to terracotta pottery, from colourful religious icons to a huge range of traditional clothing."

At the end of the day our members will be travelling to their next destination: Veliko Tarnovo. Often referred to as the "City of the Tsars", Veliko Tarnovo is located on the Yantra River and is famously known as the historical capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire.
