Today was another great and tiring day!
At 9am we met up with a mountain biking tour guide from 3glav adventures and were giving our mountain bikes and helmets and given a very, very brief introduction to mountain biking!
We set off from Bled into the country surrounding the town which is mainly farmland and tourism. We rode through fields of wheat and corn as well as dodging chickens and cow
poo around many of the houses. The architecture of the houses were stunning and topped off which the beautiful window boxes featuring roses and peonies. A lot of the riding was along narrow lane ways amongst clusters of houses. We then moved more into the forest and rode long gravel rains up and down the mountains. I found most of the biking really enjoyable and could easily keep up when we were on the flat and going downhill, however on the uphill I found it very challenging to continue riding as I would lose momentum due to riding in the large group and would struggle with the gears. So all of the steep hills I ended up walking my bike up which was quite embarrassing (slightly improved by the fact one of the other guys was walking his up too!).
Half way through our mountain biking, we stopped at Vintgar Gorge where we went for a boardwalk along the gorge. The whole environment was green and lush and the water was fast flowing with lots of rapids and small falls. The walk ended in a large waterfall with a rainbow arched over the top. The temperature was also nice and cool and water would splash from the falls, making it refreshing after our ride.
After 25km of mountain biking we headed back to Bled where we went to the bakery for lunch. It smelt amazing and it took me a while to decide what I wanted! I then spent a while eating lunch and relaxing before I set off to work out what I wanted to do the next day (as it was a free day). I decided to go hydrospeeding, but everywhere was either booked out or wouldn't take a single traveller (therefore I conclude that I'll just have to plan a trip to NZ so that I can do it!). So I tried to book kayaking but there was none left around so in the end I booked a half day fixed rope adventure.
For dinner, the group met up and went to a restaurant called Chilli (I ended up ordering an Italian, not a Mexico item off the menu since the waiter's English was not good enough to tell me how much Chilli was in the Mexican food!). As we walked back along the lake, there was a really beautiful sunset over the lake and castle so we got a group picture and then headed back to the hotel for the night.
