Asia

Kirsty and I arrived in Chiang Mai to find out that the hostel we had planned to stay in was full. We luckily found a cheap one nearby and booked into Tipsy Manor for the next 2 nights. With all our stuff sorted we went to check out 3 or 4 tattoo parlours that had been recommended online. The girls and I had talked about maybe getting a tattoo together so I wanted to check out some of the parlours and see if they were suitable. That night we went to a Mai Tai boxing event and watching 6 different fights. It was a strange experience as there were dodgy guys taking bets everywhere, and some of the fighters were as young as 12. Even so it was a cool experience.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

I got up at 6am the next day to go do some zip lining. It was a small group as it was so early, with only 2 other English guys and an Asian couple. It was a great session with around 30 ziplines and lasting 2 hours. It was situated deep in the jungle high in the valley with amazing views all round. The longest one was 900m which was a great experience.

Later that day I met up with Amy and Poppy to check out the tattoo parlours I liked. We decided on one and booked in our tattoos for the next day. I had decided on a design I had drawn up the night before, and the girls had decided to get matching elephants on their ankles.

I woke up early the next day to check out some of the markets, then we met to get our tattoos. Mine was first and took 3 hours to complete. It was all done with bamboo, a traditional asian way to do tattoos with no machines used. I

was really pleased with the result, as were the girls. We met up with Pleun and went out for some drinks to celebrate. It was a great night, most of which was spent in a reggae bar with a live band. We all got super drunk, and said goodbye as we were going in our separate directions the next day.

Next stop Pai.
