Never in my life has obtaining a train ticket been this difficult!
The amount of hours trying to figure out where to register, what a believable fake Indian phone number looks like, using it (cause they don't recognize international mobile numbers (???), to then email and request my SMS OTP (one time password) over the mail, so I can still register successfully, & hopefully book us a seat in the train, with about 6 different classes, that smart people reserve up to a month or 2 in advance, praying for a miracle, preferably in first class, knowing there's still a chance we'd arrive so late at our final destination that taking the cab at night, could be dangerous for various reasons, so we'd sleep at the station, but would need to reserve such a service too... with an Indian phone number... (sounds unreal no?)... is enough to second guess the trip all together!
But then... getting our Visa was at least as much hassle... and that worked. And as strange as it may sound, it's made me very curious as to what kind of country India is... Romantically I'm hoping that India will be the kind of travel experience that was 'waaaay-worth the prep-trouble'... but like really, waaaaaaay worth it! As in... ehm, ...trying to think of a more original metaphor than the pearl in the retched oyster that won't open up... can't think of anything... and I don't even like pearls... but, point being: It would be nice if it turns out to be the most amazing trip ever and the best 3-day-post-birthday adventure a girl could wish for....
