Road Trip 2017

Today, we had a leisurely wake up. We woke up at 8:00am, and just lounged around for a while. The girls decided they wanted to do the Treetop ropes courses and then go downtown. So, we made our reservations for the Treetop Adventure, and got some laundry done while we waited.

Scott decided he better get some more work done today, so Stacy and the girls did the Treetop Adventure. It was a BLAST!!! They had a 10-minute safety training, and then we were on our own. They gave us harnesses with two ropes attached to carabiners. We also had our own personal contraption with wheels to hook onto the zip lines throughout the course. This, we did all on our own. There were no guides atop each platform. They just had people walking around on the ground to check in with people along the way. They told us in the beginning that they would help us if we needed it along the way, but if we needed them to lower us or couldn’t complete part of the course, then we would not be allowed to continue on. Unfortunately, there was a lady in front of us who couldn’t make it, so her family had to go on without her. We completed 2 obstacle courses, each one taking about an hour to complete. It was so awesome to do obstacle courses at least 30 feet up into the treetops, but man was it HARD! We were rock stars, though. Not one of us needed to ask for help or fell even once! We saved the zip lines for the end as our reward, but still had to climb up about 50 feet to get to the starting point. These zip lines were so fun. Each one was 600 feet long!

After that, we really needed showers. We got cleaned up and then headed downtown for dinner and some music.

We went onto Broadway in downtown Nashville, and ended up getting a table at Rippy’s. We ate more southern food! Ribs, fried catfish, pulled pork…….and since Stacy didn’t think the girls would appreciate a tour of the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, she had to have Honey Jack. We also sampled some local beer: Yazoo and Hap & Harry’s. The girls were very excited to see two different bands play. Both bands had young girls as singers – one on her first night on stage in Nashville, so they were in heaven. They liked to think how Taylor Swift got her start, and that they might be seeing the next big star.

Nashville has gotten a lot crazier since we were here last, they now call it Nas Vegas. So, we were happy to get back to our RV park and go to bed.
