The American Dream

I thought that this year's exceptionally hot summer in Vienna prepared me for the absurd heat (40°C) in the States. I told friends and family: "It's gonna be ok, it's a dry heat!" Oh, how naive I was. Nothing could ever prepare anyone for the hell-like climate here in the middle of the desert.
But: Everything I see, and everything I'm able to do here makes up twice for the almost unbearable heat. After a long, long flight I arrived at the Alexis Park Resort with a two-hour delay, where our welcome drinks were already waiting for the "TAD17"-participants. But: Everything I see, and everything I'm able to do here makes up twice for the almost unbearable heat. we all went off to discover Vegas for ourselves. The members of my group seem to be really nice people - just as I expected. :-)

After just ten minutes of walking down the street on my own I've already been asked for directions. This could be either a good sign or also a veeery bad one. Obviously I'm not looking all too "touristy", which I think is kinda nice.

My plans for tonight included seeing the famous Bellagio Fountain and the Mirage Volcano. Before that, I wanted to buy a pair of traditional Western boots (because why not?). But due to today's unforeseen events (i.e. the delay at the airport, the masses of people pushing you forward along the Strip...) I arrived at the shop right after they had already closed. Oh well. I went back to the Strip and decided to just stroll around for a while in the Forum Shops of Caesar's Palace, later admired the impressive volcano at the Mirage

(compared to the pyro effects the outside temperature felt quite cool, to be honest) and finally found myself in Venice and Paris. Weird!

Now I'm back in my huge apartment, but as I'm writing these lines I still haven't quite realized that I'm finally here and that tomorrow the real adventure begins...
