My diary

We were at sea for a whole day after we left Singapore headed toward Vietnam. Because of the craziness of the strike, call time wasn't until 11:30am. We spent the day leisurely cleaning up our work area to prep for the 2nd event. By now, due to many circumstances, we have a lot of enemies on the boat. People are not being nice to us and our helpers have all disappeared. I'm fine with that only because the 2nd event is going to be much easier than the 1st one.

Based off of our work load and the stops on the trip, I planned out what needed to get done to allow us time to get off the boat and enjoy the sites as well. Plan. It's what I do.

The girls and Rene had to go shopping for event stuff, so Agustin, Rocco and I decided to play tourist. I mapped out a ton of stuff to do and off we went.

Our first stop was the Carvelle hotel Rooftop bar. There, we enjoyed Vietnamese beer. Also we found out the word for three in Vietnamese, which is Ba. So, momentarily, Team San is now team Ba.

After the bar, we walked to the Notre Dame Cathedral. We were going to attend mass since it was Sunday, but we missed the last English mass. Vietnamese mass is a little jarring. Then we went to the Vietnamese Mcdonalds and got Mcflurrys. Their menu has quite a few different items.

After that, we headed to the Post Office. It sounds weird, but it's kinda a thing. It's huge. and the architecture is great. We met the rest of the team for lunch at some restaurant and Rene ordered basically the whole menu. It was all delicious. It was also Agustin's birthday so we had birthday shots with him and many many beers.

After lunch the girls had to keep shopping so the guys and I kept touristing. We went to the War museum and the Reunification Palace. All very intense. In Vietnam, they call the war the American war. It was really interesting to see how another country sees a war that I've only ever been told about from the American Side. The War museum is very anti American. It's very jarring and overwhelming. But it was a must. The Reunification Palace had some great architecture and furniture.

After that we found another bar and kept drinking. Then we went on a mad search for a liquor store. It was very difficult to find. We succeeded and then proceeded to buy lots of alcohol. I personally bought 3 handles, amounting to about 15 US dollars.
