Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Munich, and Bruce!

“Learning German is what eternity was made for.” – Mark Twain

"I've come to play rock'n'roll for you in the hope that one day all the barriers will be torn down," - Bruce Springsteen at the Berlin Wall, East Berlin 1988

Munich is one of our favorite cities. This will be my fourth time here and Cindi’s second. I first visited Munich back in 1995 on a trip with my dad. Munich was the first stop on what would become “A Beer Tour of Germany”. (If you are interested in that narrative just ask me for a copy.) We went during Oktoberfest and had an amazing time. My next visit was with Cindi, Christian, Sharon and my dad in 2003. Again we had an amazing time. Thought the years and multiple visits I have grown to love this city like no other. I am completely comfortable here and enjoy everything it has to offer.

This year is special as the whole reason for this part of the trip centers around seeing Bruce Springsteen in concert at the Olympic Stadium. We are spending a total of five days here to explore the surrounding area as well as visit some of our favorite places from past trips. Munich bucket list items include: a trip to Berchtesgaden, eat dönnerkabab, have Currywurst from an Imbiss, go to the Augustiner Biergarten, visit a castle, take a boat ride, visit the Kugler Alm and find a sister brewery. That is a lot to do and we likely will come up short but we will do what we can and save the rest for another trip.
