[Taiwan] Chapter XXXIX: In which we are hopeful that we may have at last found our optimal

Islands have always been great favourites of ours and we have visited

quite a few over the years (e.g. Isle of Man, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Cuba, Madagascar).

Moreover, a past trip that we remember very fondly has been to South Korea, a country that blends a modern technological society with an Eastern sensibility, is largely undiscovered by Westerners (or at least was so back in 2011), and has great hiking options through beautiful landscapes.

To our minds, Taiwan seems to combine these characteristics and has therefore been high on our "to go" list for a while now. Thus, it became our next stop on our tour of the world, as we hopped from Luang Prabang (LPQ) to Bangkok (DMK) to Taipei (TPE), leaving T behind, to wind her way through Laos and Thailand for the next couple of weeks, before she returns to Israel.
