We read so much about how beautiful the coastline from Oregon and California we had to visit it. The jutting boulders and wide beaches had quite a few surfers with mandatory wetsuits, made for beautiful scenery. While traveling on through the area we saw this house way on the top of a cliff with the most spectacular views overlooking the ocean.

We missed the opportunity to see the redwood forest on our way up the west coast several years ago on our trip to Gabriola, BC so we wanted to take advantage of being there as we probably will not be there again. The redwood forest is beautiful, as you can imagine. We were particularly impressed with the size and straightness of these tall trees. Grouped together, the redwoods reduce the light and temperature the deeper you go into the forest.
And the girth of these magnificent trees, for which the forest is most famous, is huge. And as with most of the features of our major national parks, a picture cannot capture the size and magnificence of these massive trees unless you are actually standing next to them. We saw the large, famous redwood tree that you can drive your car through, but the wait time was 45 minutes, so we chose instead to visit the tree on foot. One way to show the size is by standing next to a fallen tree and comparing our size to that of the base of the tree.
